Dimitrios Athanasakis is a principal AI scientist at AstraZeneca's centre for AI. He has worked as a machine learning scientist since 2007, and he earned his EngD on using machine learning methods for biomarker discovery under the supervision of Professors John Shawe-Taylor and Delmiro Fernandez-Reyes at UCL. In addition to the biomedical domain, his professional experience spans a number of settings including security, privacy-preserving machine learning, and finance. His interests include numerical computing, machine learning, health & biomedicine, natural language processing, and making GPUs overheat, a habbit for which he occasionally gets published in peer-reviewed venues.
